Fire engulfs ICT switch yard of Sonebhadra’s Obra thermal project, closure of 12th unit leads to blackout in many parts

Sonebhadra: The unit was shut down due to a fire in the switch yard of the 12th unit of 200 MW capacity “B” thermal house of Sonebhadra, a very old and important thermal project of the state.

According to the information, a sudden fire broke out due to a jerk in the ICT at around 7.55 am on Wednesday morning. As soon as information about the fire was received, electricity department officials, CISF and fire department personnel reached the spot and brought the fire under control.

At the same time, the production of the 12th unit which was closed due to fire reduced by 160 MW. Due to this, electricity was lost at many places including Obra.

To start the closed unit, many officers of the project, under the leadership of Chief General Manager of Thermal Project, Ind. Radhey Mohan and General Manager, Ind. Yogesh Kumar Gupta, worked tirelessly and again synchronized the closed unit at 2:58 pm and took it on load.
