Fire Safety Week to be organized from April 14

Lucknow: Deputy Inspector General of Police, Director-General, Fire and Emergency Services Headquarters, Uttar Pradesh Lucknow  Jugul Kishore informed that Fire Safety Week is being organized from April 14, 2023 to April 20, 2023. With the aim of providing uniformity in the state, the program of Fire Service Martyr’s Memorial Day and Fire Safety Week will be celebrated in each district. Memorial Day parade and flag pin will be installed on April 14, 2023 under the Fire Safety Week program. Along with this, public will be made aware by taking out a fire rally at fire stations and important places in all fire station areas. On April 15, 2023, essays, paintings and lectures related to fire safety will be organized in educational institutions in collaboration with existing fire stations at district headquarters and tehsil level.

Kishore told that from April 16 to April 19, 2023, inspection of multi-section buildings, commercial establishments, auditoriums at the district headquarters and tehsil level, especially on the compilation of “fire awareness for the development of national infrastructure”, public awareness related to fire safety. Focusing on this, a campaign will be launched for fire prevention, life safety and fire fighting arrangements in multi-section buildings and security for mock drills. Discussions will be held by calling the elite persons and citizens of the business board for the meeting. On April 20, 2023, a fire safety awareness campaign will be conducted by the fire officer in charge in rural areas.

Under the Fire Safety Week, various programs are organized to make citizens aware of fire prevention and precautions. This year the resolution of fire safety “Awareness in fire safety for the development of national infrastructure” has been set by the Government of India. The purpose of Fire Safety Week is to make citizens aware of the damage caused by fire and to prevent fire and train them in relation to fire prevention measures. In which there will be arrangement of fire prevention, arrangement of safe and adequate escape route, provision of adequate access road, measures to survive in case of fire (what to do, what not to do), fire safety and precautions in industries, electrical fire safety and Careful, fire safety in multi-storey buildings, fire safety for disabled persons, firecrackers caution and how to use fire extinguishers are trained. Fire safety is promoted in industries. State-of-the-art machines/equipment such as hydraulic platform, advance rescue tender, disaster chaun, high pressure pump, ambulance, rescue equipment, combitools, smoke exhauster, foam generator etc. are made available to the districts for effective control of fire incidents and life-saving calls for strengthening the fire service. are done.

Kishore told that on 14 April 1944, S.K. S. A cargo ship named Fort Stechkin, which was carrying bundles of cotton, explosives and war equipment, suddenly caught fire. While extinguishing this fire, 66 personnel of the Mumbai Fire Service lost their lives due to the explosion in the ship. In the holy memory of these martyred firemen, the Government of India declares 14th April every year as the identity of the fire service in the whole of India. week is organized.

Kishore said that at present a total of 359 fire stations are approved in 75 districts of the state, out of which 301 fire stations are functional, and action is being taken to make 49 fire stations under construction functional. On which 6476 officers/employees of fire service are faithfully performing their duties with the help of total 1689 vehicles/machines/pumps in the spirit of ‘Tranaya Sevamahe’. Along with this, in the financial year 2022-23, Rs.35,58,33,211/- (Rupees thirty five crore fifty eight lakh thirty three thousand two hundred eleven only) has been allotted to the districts by purchasing fire fighting vehicles/equipment.

Kishore told that in Uttar Pradesh, from the year 2022 till now, action was taken on total 31195 fire accidents and life-saving calls by fire personnel, in which 1919 human beings and 5065 animals were saved while property worth Rs. . 21203 mock drills were organized in the districts of Uttar Pradesh and 180428 people were made aware during the awareness campaign. Under fire prevention and fire safety, 91,000 fire extinguishers have been prepared at the block level, who are doing the work of fire safety publicity and cooperation of the fire department at the ground level. In this way, UP Fire Service played a very meaningful role in keeping the state’s developed wealth and economy strong and safe.

Kishore said that every year 69 seasonal fire stations were set up at tehsil headquarters of the districts from March 01 to June 30 in the rural areas of the state in public interest to prevent summer fire accidents. Similarly, for the prevention of winter fire accidents, winter season fire stations are established every year from 01 October to 31 December. In rural areas, sparks in farms, barns and huts are caused by smoking, carelessness, high tension lines passing over lamps, lanterns, barns. A total of 35316 applications have been received on the online NOC portal of Uttar Pradesh Fire Services from January 01, 2022 till date for obtaining fire clearance certificate, out of which 24105 applicants have been issued NOC after examination.
