The multispecialty hospital in Uttar Pradesh, Apollomedics, once again substantiated a benchmark by implanting a Bluetooth Enabled Remote Programmable Heart Failure Device by its Cardiac team at Lucknow. It is the first ever device of its type to counter heart failure by making implants in Uttar Pradesh.
Senior Heart Specialist, Institute of Cardiac Sciences at Apollomedics Super Speciality Hospital, Dr. (Col) Ajay Bahadur said, “Ms. Poonam Aggarwal, a 60 year old lady, resident of Gomti Nagar, Lucknow was a case of Dilated Cardiomyopathy with complete Left Bundle Branch Block (LBBB). She was admitted to Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospital, Lucknow with features of Congestive Heart Failure. During her evaluation, ECG showed complete LBBB and, 2D Echocardiography showed reduced heart pumping to 30%. She was stabilized on Pharmacotherapy and thereafter, Coronary Angiography was done which showed normal Coronaries.”
“Finally, a Combo device (Cardiac Re-synchronization Therapy with Defibrillation) was implanted. This is a state – of – the – art Bluetooth Enabled Remote Sensing and Programmable Device which is a first of its kind implanted ever in Uttar Pradesh. The device is paired with company’s secure remote monitoring App, which is smart phone compatible. This device enables the doctor to monitor heart functioning of patient in real time simply using his mobile phone, which means in case of emergency, the patient need not wait to come to the hospital for getting the treatment. Since it is blue tooth enabled, the patient can also keep a track of his/her vitals on their cell phones. This will be beneficial especially during Covid-19 times. The procedure went successful and the patient is recovering well,” added Dr. Bahadur.
Managing Director and CEO of Apollomedics Super Specialty Hospitals, Dr. Mayank Somani said that, “Apollomedics has always been a pioneer in Healthcare Innovation. This is a remarkable surgery which has never been done in Uttar Pradesh. Surgery of Heart patients during this COVID 19 pandemic remains a great challenge as it requires extensive peri operative, post operative care and resources. With the use of such advanced devices, the patient remains under observation without even coming to hospital and any emergency can be managed remotely. I congratulate Apollomedics Cardiac Sciences team and hope that we keep on doing such remarkable surgeries in future also.
