Former Indian batting coach Sanjay Bangar sees Yuzvendra Chahal as India’s biggest trump card
New Delhi: After the retirement of veteran Anil Kumble, very few players could cement their place in Team India as a leg-spinner. But former India batting coach Sanjay Bangar believes that Yuzvendra Chahal is someone who has been consistent in the team as a wrist spinner since his arrival.
The career graph of Yuzvendra Chahal, the highest wicket-taker in IPL 2022, has been full of ups and downs in the last one year or so. The wrist spinner suffered a major setback when he was dropped from the T20 World Cup squad last year. On the other hand, Sanjay Bangar considers him an integral part of the team considering the upcoming T20 World Cup. It is all because of the consistency with which he has bowled.
“Yuzvendra Chahal is one player who was missed a lot in the last World Cup. He will definitely emerge as a trump card in Australia and give good success to the Indian team,” Bangar said on Star Sports.
He further said, “If there is any leg-spinner who has played continuously for India for a long time, it is Anil Kumble. After Anil Kumble, if there is any wrist-spinner who has played consistently or for a long period of time for India, it is Yuzvendra Chahal. Absolutely, it has played a huge role. This is done to test how big your heart is. When you learn to hit and are not afraid to be hit, you learn to bowl.
