Garbha Sanskar now part of Lucknow University curriculum

Lucknow: In order to create greater awareness among people about the dos and don’ts during pregnancy, Lucknow University has started a diploma course on Garbha Sanskar. The idea is to teach what pregnant women should eat, wear and how they should behave when pregnant. The first class on campus was held with Dr. Amita Pandey of the Queen Mary Hospital taking a session. Joining her later was spiritual advisor Shivani Mishra who gave a lecture on the importance and necessity of the womb in the current social context. Coordinator of the course, Dr. Archana Shukla has been quoted saying that Garbha Sanskar is the first of 16 Sanskars which is a part of human life. A guideline has been prepared for this program in which students learn about the 16 rites. The program mainly focuses on family planning and nutrition taken by pregnant women. Those doing the course will learn the intricacies of motherhood. The course will also include what kind of music is good for her and the child. Attending it will be post-graduate students, research scholars, housewives, IVF center coordinators and even retired health officers. Classes are being conducted virtually and students can attend from home. The course of one year will consist of two semesters.
