Getting Driving Licence now an Uphill Task
Lucknow: The facility of getting learning driving license from home, implemented to provide relief, has become a cause of trouble for the applicants. During the online examination, the problem of rejection of the applicant’s application in the system is increasing everyone’s problems if any kind of noise is recorded in the camera installed in the computer. Applicants are being forced to reapply and deposit the fees. Enraged by this, the applicants have demanded to remove this problem on priority basis.
The government has implemented a new system to save the applicants from getting trapped in the clutches of middlemen for getting learning driving license. Many applicants are facing the trouble of travelling from public service center to ARTO office to get learning license.
If official sources are to be believed, earlier where about 100 learning licenses were made every day, after the implementation of the new system, now only a maximum of 10 applicants are being issued licences.
Some also suggest that new driving licenses are not being issued due to lack of chip to be installed in the driving license. In such a situation, applicants have to wait for their driving license for several months. If the correct procedure takes place in 10 days, the driving license is delivered to the applicant’s home by post.
Divisional transport officials say that this problem has come to the fore at the headquarters level due to the supply chain being disrupted. Because of this, the driving licenses to be printed in Lucknow are not being made.
The driving license applicant first gets his learning license made. After that, after one month, after paying a permanent license fee, he has to go and give the test at the Automatic Driving Testing Track. After passing the test, the driving license is sent to the applicant by post in 10 days.
An estimate suggests that over three lakh people are waiting for their DLs. Speaking to the media, UP’s transport commissioner, CB Singh said it may take a fortnight to streamline the process. “The contractor preparing these smart cards has been instructed to resolve the matter at the earliest,” he added.
