Ghazal icon Talat Aziz felicitated with Naushaad Sangeet Samman in city

Lucknow: Famous singers Talat Aziz, Kavita Mishra and Parul Mishra were felicitated with Naushad Sangeet Samman by Lt. Gen. Yogendra Dimri on behalf of Hunar Creations Craft Association at the Surya Auditorium in the cantonment.

On this occasion, Parul Mishra, Manali Chaturvedi, Debadrita Mukherjee cast a spell with their songs. The lighting of the lamp was done by  Nidhi Dimri, AWA President.

Earlier, welcoming the guests, Convenor Zafar Nabi said that Hunar Creations Craft Association has honored world-renowned artists like Amjad Ali Khan, Shivkumar Sharma, Hema Malini, Rekha Bhardwaj, Sonu Nigam.

Talat Aziz, who recited famous ghazals and nazms in his own style, expressed his gratitude for the award while recalling fond memories, and the song Gunja Sa Koi Iktara from the film Wakeup Sid was quite a roaring hit.

In the program, playback singer Parul Mishra, who has been a part of Indian Idol, MTV  and many other reality shows, wearing a shining saree from the state, performed in a medley style – Aaj jaane ki zid na karo…. Ahsaan bada hoga mujhpar, Damadam Mast Kalandar, Chhap Tilak and got everyone in the mood.

Debadrita Mukherjee, a young music teacher from Kolkata, who was a Sa Re Ga Ma Pa participant two years ago, came on the stage in a western dress, paying homage to Lata Mangeshkar and started with the song Lag Ja Gale Ki…. Second song- Tujhe yaad kar liya hai.

Dressed in dark pink designer kurta and jeans, Manali Chaturvedi remembered her maternal grandfather Rupkishore Chaturvedi in the opening song – Tere Naam Se Jee Loon…., Mere Rashke Qamar…., Darling Aakhon Se Aankhen Char Karne Do… Sung songs like Jhoom Jhoom Jhoom Baba….Saara Zamana Haseen Ka Deewana….and O Mera Dil Pyaar Ka Deewana.

Earlier the program started with Nidhi Tiwari’s group’s praise and Kantika Mishra’s Sufi Rang Mein Aaj Rang Hai Ri… but Kathak. Neha Singh and friends danced on songs like Tere Ishq Mein… by Kavita Seth.
Ghazal is safe in its place

In a conversation over tea in a hotel in Gomtinagar, referring to the things of 33 years ago, Talat Aziz said that many memories with Naushad Sahab are still fresh in my mind. He said that Ghazal is safe in its place. Social media likes are not necessary for everyone. It’s been 42 years since I was on the stage of Ghazals. Ghazal has many specialties. The format itself is different. The whole world is contained in two Egypt. The language of Ghazal is Hindavi, it is Deccani.

Kavita Seth said about musician Naushad that great people always live with simplicity. There is a famous saying that Thotha Chana Baje Ghana. Whatever may be the song, poem, poetry, the spirituality should remain intact. I am from the city where the jhumka fell.

Former Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma while giving mementoes to the guest artists said that today those artists are present in Lucknow whose reach is beyond the borders of the country to the international platform. Work is going on fast on Film City in Uttar Pradesh. The day is not far when the artist will say we are from the UP film industry.
