Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurates Philatelic Gallery based on theme of “Uttar Pradesh in the Mirror of Philately”
Lucknow: State Governor Anandiben Patel inaugurated Philatelic Gallery based on the theme of “Uttar Pradesh in the Mirror of Philately” at UP Governor Camp Sub Post Office, Raj Bhavan. This gallery has been built highlighting the freedom movement and political journey including art, culture, literature of Uttar Pradesh.
On this occasion, the Governor also launched a special pictorial cancellation stamp based on Raj Bhavan. Along with this, the Governor also unveiled picture post cards of special places of interest of Raj Bhavan.
This gallery has been constructed in this historical “Raj Bhavan” of Uttar Pradesh in order to celebrate the Amrit Mahotsav of Independence on completion of 75 years of independence. This philately gallery on the theme “Uttar Pradesh in the Mirror of Philately” presents a vibrant tableau of Uttar Pradesh. It is noteworthy that a unique Pincode 226027 has been issued by the Department of Posts only for “Raj Bhavan”, this Pincode is the first Pincode in the country to be issued for a historical building.
In this gallery, famous and historical buildings of Uttar Pradesh, educational institutions, Governors of Uttar Pradesh, Prime Ministers of the country from Uttar Pradesh, freedom fighters of the first freedom struggle-1857, revolutionary era, women powers of Uttar Pradesh in freedom struggle, Ramayana, Writers of Uttar Pradesh who made special contribution in prose and poetry of Hindi literature, Bhakti Margi poets of Uttar Pradesh, famous poets of Uttar Pradesh who have given name to Urdu in the country and the world, state symbols and arts of Uttar Pradesh etc.
A collection of stamps and special covers issued from time to time is displayed. Apart from this, the journey of the Department of Posts till date has been shown in a special wall with all the important milestones in chronological order. In this wall, the working style of the Department of Posts and the services and products provided by the department have also been explained in Kalantar.
At the inauguration ceremony, senior officials of the Department of Posts presented a special album related to “One District One Product” to the Governor. In this album, details of famous agricultural products, handicrafts and other products of each district of Uttar Pradesh have been shown. After observing all the postal exhibits displayed in the gallery, the Governor also inquired about their details from the concerned officials. On this occasion, he told the officials of the postal department that along with the development of human civilization, a description showing the gradual development from the medium of message communication till now should also be compiled. In this sequence, he also discussed the message spread through sound, air, birds etc. in ancient times.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary to Governor Kalpana Awasthi, Special Secretary to Governor B.N. Singh, Chief Postmaster General B. Selvakumar, Postmaster General Vivek Kumar Daksha, Director Postal Service Anand Kumar Singh and all officers and employees of Raj Bhavan and Department of Posts. All the concerned officers were present.
