Governor Anandiben Patel presides over 20th convocation of Rohilkhand University Bareilly

Lucknow: The 20th convocation ceremony of Rohilkhand University, Bareilly was held  under the chairmanship of State Governor and Chancellor . Anandiben Patel. Addressing the ceremony on this occasion, the Governor wished all the students who received the degree a bright future and appealed to them that they will take care of those people in their social life, in whose life the ray of development has not reached. She appreciated the commendable contribution made by the university through higher education in the economically backward region. While congratulating everyone present at the function on Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti, the Governor said that the sacrifice and sacrifice of Sikh Gurus inspires all of us.

In the function, the Governor told the students that they can make their education useful in true sense by promoting local development through research and innovation using local resources. She said that we should keep in mind that along with our personal development, the country and the society also get the benefit of our education. Referring to the new National Education Policy-2020, the Governor said that in this, emphasis has been laid on creating a competitive environment for the youth at the international level by making changes in many courses at the higher education level. She said that students are being given a chance to learn more in this. She praised the innovative courses implemented in the university, research works, MoUs from India and abroad, startup and enterprise promotion activities and contribution in social activities in the interest of academics and students. The Governor also praised the steps taken in the direction of women empowerment, to encourage female literacy in the university.

In her address, the Governor also mentioned the meetings of G-20 countries being held in the country. She said that these are also being organized from December 01, 2022 to November 30, 2023 in four cities of Uttar Pradesh, Agra, Varanasi, Lucknow and Greater Noida. Appealing everyone to participate in this grand event, she said that the students having knowledge of foreign languages should inform the representatives of these countries about the characteristics of their country, the environment and the steps taken by the government in public interest. Make those representatives familiar with innovations, startups, other miscellaneous activities in your university by promoting them through exhibition and digital medium.

Addressing the function, the Governor also expressed concern over the decreasing production of coarse cereals in the country. She said that in the 60s, 40 percent of the total food grain production in our country was in the form of coarse grains. She also discussed its increasing demand globally, its benefits from health point of view and its nutrients as well as its recipes. She informed that on the proposal of the Prime Minister of India  Narendra Modi, the United Nations has declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets.

In this sequence, in view of the increasing spread of Corona in the world, the Governor asked everyone to take precautions and precautions related to Corona. Referring to India’s indigenous vaccine Covishield and Co-Vaxin she also told about the newly developed indigenous nasal vaccine Incovac for the prevention of corona. She informed that the Government of India has included the nasal vaccine as a booster dose in its Covid-19 vaccination programme.

In today’s program, the Governor inaugurated the beautified Atal Auditorium in the university campus. The program was inaugurated by the Governor by offering water stream in Matki with the message of water harvesting and ground water augmentation. He said that the universities should take effective measures to conserve as much water as they use throughout the year. The Governor also provided bags of reading material and nutritional material to 25 children of the primary school who attended the function.

State’s Higher Education Minister  Yogendra Upadhyay ji while giving best wishes for a bright future to all the degree awarded students asked them to make maximum use of their education in the interest of the country and development of the society.
In the ceremony, the chief guest Vice-Chancellor Prof. KP Singh read the progress report of the university. The Chief Guest and Director, Indian Institute of Technology, Gandhinagar, Gujarat Prof. Rajat Moona shared his experiences with the students and wished them success in future life.

A total of 843 students of various faculties were awarded degrees in the convocation. 77 research degrees were awarded. Gold medals were awarded to 84 meritorious students who achieved special achievements.

On this occasion, Higher Education, Science and Technology Minister of State Government  Yogendra Upadhyay, Member of Parliament  Santosh Kumar Gangwar, Minister of State for Higher Education . Rajni Tiwari, members of Executive Council and Vidya Parishad, teachers and employees and other dignitaries were present.
