Governor Anandiben Patel reviews presentation for NAAC of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal Vishwavidyalaya
Lucknow: The Governor and Chancellor of Uttar Pradesh, Anandiben Patel reviewed the presentation for NAAC of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal Vishwavidyalaya, Jaunpur in the intelligence room at Raj Bhavan. Vice-Chancellor of the University Prof. Nirmala S. Maurya informed in the meeting that the University is preparing to file its “Self-Study Report” for evaluation for the third time.
In the meeting, the Governor took point-by-point information on all the seven evaluation criteria from the members of the committee constituted by the university for the preparations for NAAC evaluation. A detailed presentation of the Executive Summary for NAAC was made before her. The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nirmala S. Maurya, started the presentation and apprised the Governor about the works described as per the advice given by the experts in the NAAC assessment last time.
The Governor suggested that in technical education and other subjects, after observing the subjects implemented in the educational institutions which have got the highest NAAC grade, implement the appropriate subjects in your university as well. She asked to highlight the special features, mention and details etc. of the university. It is known that AQR and 118A have been filled under the self study report to be filed by the university for NAAC grading, while preparations are being made to file SSR.
The Governor also discussed with the NAAC team of the university about the preparation of the presentation by the committee members during the peer team visit. She directed all the committee heads to present themselves competently. She told that the Peer Team conducts different department-wise observations, during which other departmental heads or members may not be present. That’s why strong preparation should be done department wise on each criteria. She said that all the department heads should keep complete information about their department.
The Governor said make 100% preparation on every point for NAAC evaluation. Talking about promoting the positive participation of the students, the Governor emphasized on increasing their participation in various activities, work operations etc. of the university. She said that along with the benefits of getting a high NAAC grade, students should be told the utility of NAAC and encourage them for NAAC grading.
Governor Anandiben Patel said that NAAC assessment motivates to promote quality education and informs about various important benefits of assessment. Along with instructions to strengthen the feedback system, she also instructed to make Hindi language subject books available to the students. Emphasizing that various programs, lectures etc. should be organized by students, the Governor said that the university should regularly organize various programs of Mission Shakti, Anganwadi and it should work under a decentralized system. She expressed happiness over the majority of gold medals being won by girl students.
Expressing satisfaction over the best practices of the university, the Governor directed to publish high quality research papers of teachers and scientists. Appreciating the Bapu Bazar established at the university level, she said that the university is doing important social work under Bapu Bazar. She said that according to the feedback received from the students, qualitative improvements should be made at the university level. She said that strong preparation should be made for NAAC evaluation only after comparative study of the report of the new SSR with the previous SSR and the details and calculations of all the work done by the university should be mentioned in the SSR. Emphasizing on teachers to motivate students to use e-resources, he said that apart from providing various types of study materials to children through Google Classroom, the details of training, internship and placement of students are detailed.
Inspiring the university to adopt tuberculosis patients, the Governor said that better care and treatment should be given to the adopted patients and account of the cured patients should also be maintained. The Governor said that ‘Self Study Report’ should be filed with strong preparation for the highest grade of NAAC.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nirmala S. Maurya, informed the Governor that the SSR will be filed with all the reforms by the next month, December. IQAC Coordinator Prof. Manas Pandey threw light on the various activities of the ‘Internal Quality Cell’ of the University. She said along with the cell, the university as well as various colleges are encouraged to get NAAC evaluation done, as well as inform about the various benefits of evaluation.
Principal Secretary to the Governor, Kalpana Awasthi, Officer on Special Duty, Education, Pankaj Johny, members of the team formed by the university for NAAC preparation and other officers were also present in the meeting.
