Governor Anandiben Patel urges Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University to prepare well for NAAC assessment

Lucknow: The Governor and Chancellor,  Anandiben Patel reviewed the presentation for NAAC of Veer Bahadur Singh Purvanchal University, Jaunpur at Pragya Kaksha at Raj Bhavan. The Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nirmala S. Maurya informed in the meeting that earlier the university has obtained “B” grade of NAAC in the year 2004 and “B+” grade of NAAC in the year 2016 and now its “self” for the third time for evaluation.

Preparing to file study report. In the meeting, the Governor took point-wise information on all the seven evaluation criteria from the members of the committee constituted by the university for the preparation of NAAC evaluation.
In the presentation of Criteria one and two, the Governor stressed on the special need for improvement and said that review the presentation and make SSR with strong points.

She said that at the technical level, replace the old syllabus and implement the new technology version in the curriculum. Level up university teaching. She suggested that by observing the international ranking in technical education and other subjects and the subjects applicable in the highest NAAC graded educational institutions of the country, apply adequate subjects in your university also.

She said that the special features of the university should be highlighted with special mention and details. It is to be known that IQR has been filled under the self study report to be filed by the university for NAAC grading, while preparations are being made to file IQAC.

Observing the diversity available to the students in the selection of subjects, the Governor directed that the details of the choices in the syllabus should be kept in the hyperlink. The Governor also discussed the preparation of presentations by the committee members during the peer team tour with the NAAC team of the university. She said that the Vice Chancellor should make strong preparations for his presentation. She directed all the committee heads to make their own presentation with competence. Adding that the peer team makes different observations according to the department, during which other heads of departments or members cannot be present.

Therefore, strong preparations should be made on each of the criteria according to the department. She said that all the heads of departments should keep complete information about their departments.

On mentioning only satisfactory progress on various points in the presentation, the Governor reacted and said that 100 percent preparation should be done on every point. While discussing on the promotion of positive participation of the students, the Governor emphasized on increasing their participation in various activities, work operations etc. of the University. She said that the students should be told about the benefits of getting high NAAC grades along with the usefulness of NAAC and inculcate enthusiasm among them for NAAC grading.

While discussing the preparation of strong SSR, the Governor asked to strengthen the write-ups attached in the presentation and to equip them in artistic language style, to mark UP, India prominently in the mark sheet provided by the university, captioned the attached photographs. Along with doing this, suggestions were also given to diversify the best practice. She said that registration of platelet donors should also be done at the time of organizing blood donation camp. She also asked to develop labs like soil testing, seed testing, useful for farmers, along with the suggestion to add public utility testing facilities in the testing labs of the university.

The Vice Chancellor of the University told the Governor that with all the reforms, the SSR would be filed by November next month. Governor said that self study report should be filed with strong preparation for the highest grade of NAAC.

In the meeting, the Governor addressed the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Nirmala S. Also released Hindi translated book ‘Kalki Ki Short Stories’ by Tamil story writer Ramaswamy Krishnamurthy edited by Maurya and Dr. Manoj Tiwari. This translation has been done by Dr. A. G. Matangi.

Minister of State for Higher Education Ms. Rajni Tiwari, Principal Secretary to Governor Kalpana Awasthi, Officer on Special Duty, Education, members of the team constituted by the University for NAAC preparation and other officials were also present in the meeting.
