Lucknow: State Governor Anandiben Patel participated online in the Silver Jubilee celebrations organized on the foundation day of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Prayagraj from Pragya Hall located at Raj Bhavan. Congratulating on the occasion, the Governor said that the Open University is a boon for those people who go to regular educational institutions to pursue higher education due to various reasons like family responsibilities, residence in remote rural areas, not getting admission in the university. In such a situation, this class, which is deprived of the main stream of education, gets a big opportunity for development by getting education in the Open University.
The Governor, in her address, emphasized on expanding the scope of classes of providing education to the Open University with more responsibility. She said that the Open University should give priority to the development of individual and social qualities by providing more useful education to the youth, juveniles who are detained in jail due to any reason at the age of receiving education. She laid special emphasis on providing employment-oriented education to the youth who are detained in jail.
The Governor also asked to establish a higher education system for the transgenders. She said that third sex are a part of our society, they are also human beings and they also want social share by taking higher education. It is the responsibility of the universities to make arrangements for higher education for them without any social discrimination. She said that the Open University should make arrangements for education by creating a center for transgenders and developing an app. She said that requisite cooperation would also be provided from Raj Bhavan for this arrangement.
With instructions to make all the arrangements in the university 100 percent online, the Governor asked to continue the preparations for NAAC. He said that ‘NAAC’ is a continuous process of evaluation every five years. Therefore, it should be prepared with commitment every year with all the data entries. He also asked to increase their participation in the performance of work and conduct of activities by forming various committees in the representation of students in universities.
The Governor was addressing the function organized on the 25th foundation day of Uttar Pradesh Rajarshi Tandon Open University, Prayagraj. He also discussed prominently in the address to the universities to make water arrangements for their use through rainwater harvesting, to ensure technical and medical education in mother tongue. In the beginning of the address, the Governor expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased while paying homage to the dead in the bridge accident in Morbi, Gujarat. Expressing gratitude to the people involved in the relief work at the accident site, he also expressed respect for them.
In the presence of Governor, the statue of online Rajarshi Purushottamdas Tandon was unveiled, e-Gyan Sangam (OER Repository), e-Gyanarjan (LMS Portal) inaugurated and souvenir were also released. On this occasion, the Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Seema Singh, the Chief Guest of the function, Prof. D.P. Singh along with the officials, employees, students, invited guests and others were present.
