Lucknow: State Governor Anandiben Patel, in her capacity as visitor at Raj Bhavan observed the presentation of the self-study report prepared for NAAC grading by Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow. She reviewed all the seven criteria of NAAC point by point and recommended S.G.P.G.I.
The lack of mutual coordination among the NAAC team members was critiqued. She said that all Criteria members should contribute in improving the presentation of each Criteria. She asked to follow the instructions given in the meeting with commitment to improve the presentation.
In the meeting, the Governor said that the institute is a globally renowned specialized medical institute, all its characteristics should be comprehensively reflected in the SSR.
While discussing various points in Criteria One, she asked to highlight the medical facilities given to transgenders and health benefits from special surgeries. She gave special instructions to show the activities of special medical works, surgeries, other research etc. in the institute by recording certificates and details along with photographs. She asked to add details along with photographs of such recovered patients who could not get health benefits anywhere in the country and abroad.
While discussing the Teaching Learning and Evaluation Criteria, the Governor emphasized on making medical education books available in the mother tongue also. She said that awareness campaigns regarding this course should be conducted in schools for such candidates and the required candidates should also be given training to acquire the qualification. The Governor addressed the director of the institute, Prof. R. K Dhiman who was asked to arrange yoga for the patients coming for treatment at the institute and to conduct research on the positive effects of yoga.
She asked the Director to set up a data cell for NAAC in the institute, so that year-wise compilation of details can be preserved and used in the upcoming assessments of NAAC.
While reviewing the point of best practice in the evaluation, the Governor asked to especially highlight the Hospital Revolving Fund. She asked the medical experts present in the meeting to highlight the compassion and heart of the treatment by mentioning the incident of the patient crying with apprehension and pain due to non-availability of medicines to his family members. In the meeting, the Governor said that SGPGI is a renowned special medical institute of the state in the country and abroad. Institutions should highlight all their institutional characteristics in their entirety in the report.
She said that the institute has achieved great achievements in the medical field and at the academic level. Those achievements should be listed and linked to the criteria wise point presentation of NAAC.
For the first time, NAAC is preparing its self-study report for national level grading. The institute has already achieved notable positions in assessments at international and national levels. Most recent Q.S. It has been ranked in the category of 551 to 600 in the World University Rankings, whereas in NIRF.
It has secured seventh place in priority among the top ten. In today’s review meeting, every feature of the institute was presented under the standards of NAAC and analyzed to get the highest grade.
