Greater coordination at district level required to work on AIDS Control

Lucknow: Under the chairmanship of Additional Project Director of Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, Dr. Hira Lal, a meeting of Technical Support Unit Setu and Society officials was organized. Dr. Hira Lal said during the meeting that all state and district personnel of the Setu team should work with dedication, full cooperation will be given from the society level.

Only better work in the field will become our identity and HIV prevention and prevention program can be made successful. There is still a lack of coordination in the districts, so there the Program Field Officer meets the District Tuberculosis Officers and the HIVTB Coordinator, conducts meetings, and sensitizes about the program.

Along with this, the monthly review meetings being organized in the district should be followed up. Dr. Lal said that in collaboration with the society, the organization YRG Care runs a special clinic for the transgender community in the capital Lucknow.

Many types of basic services are being provided to all transgenders at this clinic. It is our responsibility to promote this clinic in all the districts. Transgenders living at the district level should be informed about the services of the clinic and they should be helped to avail the services. Before this, the sectional officers of the society level discussed in detail with the Setu team and also got to know the status of action on their expectations.

Mainly Dr. Arun Singhal, Sunil Mishra, Geeta Agarwal, Maya Bajpai, Anuj Dixit, Pawan Singh, Ajay Shukla, Neeraj, Rajesh Pathak, Virendra Dubey, Pradeep, Nitish, Shashank, Nitish Gupta, Purnima Chowdhary etc. were present in the meeting. . People infected with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) have a higher risk of developing tuberculosis.

Therefore, to make the country TB free by the year 2025, better coordination between the HIV and TB department is necessary. Dr. Hira Lal, Additional Project Director of Uttar Pradesh State AIDS Control Society, said this in an inter-departmental meeting.

The meeting was held with the Technical Support Unit (SETU) working by the Society, the officials of the State Tuberculosis Officer’s Office and the State TB Program-UPTSU. Dr. Hiralal instructed TBTSU representatives and Setu team members to increase mutual coordination and work together. He also asked both the teams to make a detailed presentation in the next meeting. Also said that a meeting of all the partner agencies associated with both the programs should be held at the state level at the earliest.

He said that DTO is the nodal officer of HIV AIDS program at the district level, but somewhere there is lack of mutual coordination in HIV and TB program, which has also been seen in the visits made in many districts. Therefore, it should be ensured that the monthly HIV-TB coordination meeting held at the district level, which had become lax during the Covid period, should be held again in all the districts.

He said that the field officers of both the technical support units should continuously monitor in the districts and promote better work. He also sought suggestions from everyone. Dr. Heera Lal said that there is a need to work with result-oriented approach instead of process, only then the goals of National AIDS Control Program can be achieved. Dr. Geeta Agarwal, Sunil Mishra, Narendra Singh, Abhishek Singh, Anuj Dixit, Bharat Shetty, Shailendra Upadhyay, Vinay Singh, Himanshu were mainly present in the meeting.
