Greater sensitivity needed on part of Insurance companies while dealing with farmers: Surya Pratap Shahi
Lucknow: State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi has given instructions to the agricultural insurance companies and the statistics department to ensure that in case of loss, every insured farmer gets full benefit of insurance and no one takes double or unnecessary benefit of insurance.
For this, the assessment made by the insurance company should be re-confirmed by the district administration.
State Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi said this in a meeting with the representatives of the companies nominated to have a dialogue with the agriculture insurance and the Director of Statistics and other concerned officials in the presence of Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture in his office located at Vidhan Bhawan.
In the meeting, he took information from the representatives of insurance companies about the assessment done by them in each district. Information given by the insurance companies, in which there is a possibility of leaving any farmer, instructions were given to rectify those deficiencies immediately.
The Agriculture Minister instructed the companies to do the work of insurance more sensitively so that no farmer of the state is deprived of the benefits of agriculture insurance. He said that if the insurance amount has not reached any farmer due to bank account or any other technical reason, then the insurance companies should ensure that the benefit reaches that farmer.
Along with this, the information of such farmers should be immediately made available to the government, to whom the insurance amount could not be delivered in the first instance due to technical reasons.
On this occasion, Additional Chief Secretary Agriculture Dr. Devesh Chaturvedi said that the details of agricultural insurance given by the Statistics Department are also used for the country’s GDP, so the estimates of agricultural insurance are received from the district administration.
