New Delhi/ Birbhum: Continuing PM Modi’s series of addresses to top academic institutions as they turn 100, joining that list was the famed Vishwabharati University located in Birbhum’s Shanti Niketan of West Bengal.
Addressing the centenary celebrations of the University, Modi described Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore’s vision for Vishwa Bharati as the essence of self-reliant India.
He said it is a very special journey that Gurudev has traversed, adding that it is a true incarnation of Gurudev’s contemplation, philosophy and hard work for Ma Bharati. He said crucibles of education like these give continuous energy to the country to embody the dream that Gurudev had envisioned. The PM said our country is spreading the message emanating from Visva Bharati to the whole world. He said the idea of environment protection was being spread through the International Solar Alliance with India being only country on right track to achieve the Paris Accord’s environmental goals.
PM Modi said, the Atmanirbhar Bharat campaign is also the path of India’s welfare. He said, when we talk about the freedom struggle then the idea of 19-20 century comes directly in our mind. Modi said, “The Bhakti movement strengthened the spiritual and cultural unity of India. In the Bhakti era, our saints, Mahants, Acharyas tried to keep the nation’s consciousness awake in every region, east-west-north-south, every direction in India.
He expressed his feeling that India from Vedas to Vivekananda was vocal in Gurudev’s thinking of nationalism. His vision was that the world should benefit from what is best in India and that what is good in the world, India should also learn from its global peers.
