Lucknow: The city will see the beginning of the holy month of Ramadan starting Wednesday. Muslim brethren will fast for one month and offer prayers. Preparations have been completed. People in the city were seen making a beeline for shops selling Dates, chips, papad and various varieties of sevaiyan with beautifully decked up shops. Cleanliness work has continued throughout the day in mosques and daily commute zones.
The Muslim community will hold the first Roza on Wednesday. With this the pious month of Ramadan will begin. Mosques and madrasas in rural areas, including the city, will see prayers in a regulated manner.
This month the people of the Muslim community keep fasting. More and more time is spent in worship. Monday was the 29th, due to which people kept looking at the sky in the evening in the hope of seeing the moon of Ramadan.
The moon could not be seen nor could there be confirmation of the moon coming out from anywhere. Therefore the month of Ramadan will start from 14 April. The special namaz of the month of Ramadan Taraweeh will begin from Tuesday night. Lucknow Qazi Suhail Akhtar has been quoted saying that the moon could not be seen. Therefore the first Roza of Ramadan will be on 14 April.
