IIT K Women’s Association hosts 3-day Badminton Tournament

Kanpur: The Women’s Association at IIT Kanpur organized a 3-day Badminton Tournament. This event drew participation from faculty, staff, and their spouses. Aruna Karandikar, the Patron of the Women’s Association, and Ravi Dixit, a BWF level 1 Badminton coach and international badminton umpire, inaugurated the tournament with a short rally to declare the tournament open.

Dr. Monika Thakur, the Secretary of the Women’s Association, extended a warm welcome to Aruna Karandikar, Rajji Ganesh, Ravi Dixit, and all participants. The winner of the singles event was Arti, the 1st runners-up was Seema Yadav, and 2nd runner-up was Vismita Chauhan. In the doubles event, Arti-Shweta Shah were the winners while Kirti Bhatnagar-Rangoli Awasthi were the 1st runners-up, and Pratibha Sahu-Jyoti were the 2nd runners-up. In the mixed doubles, Nageshwar Rao – Avanti Joshi secured the top spot, followed by Manish Kharwar-Pooja Gopakumar as the 1st runners-up and Sarath Nelleri-Shweta Shah as the 2nd runners-up.

Prof. Indra Sen, Chairman of the Sports and Physical Education Committee (SPEC) at IIT Kanpur, attended the closing ceremony. Medals and certificates were presented by Aruna Karandikar and Rajji Ganesh.
