Important changes in PCS Exam subject structure to help make life easier for students
Lucknow: There is relieving news for the candidates preparing for the UPPSC-PCS exam. The Yogi Government of Uttar Pradesh has abolished the compulsory of Optional Subject from the Main Examination of the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (PCS). In place of this, now 2 question papers of general knowledge related to Uttar Pradesh have been added.
The proposal was approved in the cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath. For this, the proposal related to amendment in the proposal of the Department of Personnel has been passed, including the State Senior Subordinate Services Main Examination and Examination Scheme syllabus. After this, the long-standing dispute over scaling will end.
Actually, in the main examination of Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (PCS), optional subject was mandatory. In the main examination, the candidates of Science subjects used to get more marks than the candidates of Humanities subjects. After this, in the name of scaling, some had to gain and some had to suffer loss due to increase or decrease in marks. There was a lot of controversy regarding scaling in PCS-2018.
Because of scaling, complaints were also coming that many candidates from other states were selected in UP. This is the reason why the demand to remove the optional subject from the PCS main exam had intensified. The Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission had sent a proposal regarding the removal of optional subjects to the government, which has been approved in Wednesday’s cabinet meeting.
