In a first, 48,000 AKTU students get digital degrees

Lucknow: The 20th convocation ceremony of Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam Technical University, Lucknow was held  under the chairmanship of State Governor  Anandiben Patel, in which the Governor awarded medals to 92 meritorious students of undergraduate and 9 postgraduates. While 81 students were awarded Ph.D. On this occasion, 48000 students were given digital degrees for the first time.

Addressing the ceremony, the Chancellor said that all of you should take a pledge to practice truth in life and make ‘Satyamev Jayate’ your motto because conduct and thinking matter a lot. She said that wherever you are employed, work with honesty and inspire other people as well. The Governor said that your parents are your biggest role models, never forget them, they made you worthy of this. Understand their dedication and always maintain the respect of parents.

Referring to the visit to the old age home, the Chancellor said that such education does not hold any importance, which sends their old parents to old age homes. She called upon the degree receiving students to take a pledge and said that they will serve their parents at any cost.

The Governor said that employment is an important stage in the study of technical education. I am happy that the Training and Placement Cell of the University is actively providing employment opportunities in coordination with industrial establishments. She appealed to the students that wherever they work, they should work with full devotion, honesty and quality and always maintain human feelings towards the staff working at the lower level at the work place.

The Chancellor said that for quality education, it has become very necessary that the institutions should be standardized at the national and international level. In recent years, meaningful efforts are being made in this direction by various universities. I want the universities to progressively improve the quality of education by entering into MoUs with high standard institutions in this direction. The Governor said that the innovation of our country is a great mix of economics and utility. Startups in India are in the fields of Electric Mobility, Internet of Things, Health Care, Artificial Intelligence and many more. All these startups should create unique Indian brands so that they can make their place in the world markets in future.

Technical Education Minister  Ashish Patel said that Uttar Pradesh has a big name in terms of technical education. There has been a qualitative improvement in the field of higher education here. He appealed to the students who received degrees to engage in public interest work and always keep in mind the education received from this university, wherever you work.

The chief guest at the convocation,  Pankaj R. Patel said that this is the era of innovation and entrepreneurship. The whole world is moving towards this. Many countries have transformed their entire economy on the strength of entrepreneurship and innovation. Unlimited doors of employment are open. India is also making rapid strides in this direction. But the youth of Uttar Pradesh always think only about employment, you have to change this thinking. You should not be a job taker but a job provider. That’s why all of you should promote innovation and entrepreneurship.

On this occasion, Vice Chancellor Prof. Pradeep Kumar presented the annual progress report. He said that under the new education policy, Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University has given the students the option of awarding major degree courses as well as minor degrees in interdisciplinary courses from this academic session. This opportunity will not only facilitate the students to study interdisciplinary courses but will also motivate them for greater acceptability in industrial establishments as well as for self-employment.

He said that the university has provided about 25,000 (twenty five thousand) job opportunities to the students of more than 700 affiliated institutions in the last academic session. More than 10,000 (ten thousand) students have got employment opportunities in many reputed companies like IBM, Microsoft etc. Along with this, a special employment camp was organized only for girl students in which about 800 girl students participated and 14 girl students were placed at a salary of Rs.15 lakh per annum. Along with this, 02 students of Computer Science in IET Lucknow, a constituent institute of the University, were employed by big establishments like Google and Amazon on an annual package of more than 01 crore. Definitely, this type of prestigious employment earned by the students will make all the teachers, staff and students associated with the university proud.

Reading material, school bags, fruits and sweets were distributed to 34 school children in the convocation ceremony and old students were also felicitated.

Principal Secretary Technical Education,  Subhash Chandra Sharma, members of the Executive Council and School Council, teachers and students were present on this occasion.
