Lucknow: The aged need special caring. A special Geriatric helpdesk has been launched in the new OPD block of Sanjay Gandhi Postgraduate Institute of Medical Sciences. This help counter has been started with the aim of providing all possible help to all the old and senior citizens to appear in the OPD.
The geriatric helpdesk was inaugurated by the director of the institute, Prof. RK Dhiman, by cutting the traditional ribbon. On this occasion, the Chief Medical Superintendent of the Institute, Prof. Gaurav Agrawal, Medical Superintendent Dr. V.K. Paliwal, A.K. Singh other faculty and partners were present.
The Director SGPGI said that according to the study on old age conducted by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Government of India, every two out of three senior citizens in India are suffering from some kind of chronic disease, for which they have to be treated by doctors in hospitals. They have to visit regularly for consultation.
This helpline has been set up to help this section of the society to complete the formalities like registration etc. on reaching the hospital or to get consultation from the doctor. This portal has been set up in collaboration with a non-profit organization.
