In an era of global recession, U.P. scenario is encouraging – Suresh Khanna
Lucknow: In the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly, the Yogi government has presented the mega budget of the state. Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna presented the budget speech. In the beginning, he informed about the investment proposal received by the state government in the UP Global Investors Summit 2023 and said that the government has received proposals worth more than 33 lakh crores for investment in the state.
Finance Minister Suresh Kumar Khanna said that the state’s contribution to the country’s GDP is more than 8%. I am happy to inform that in the year 2021-2022, a growth of 16.8 percent has been recorded in the State’s Gross State Domestic Product, which has been more than the country’s growth rate.
He said that the rate of growth in GSDP has been estimated at 19 percent for the financial year 2023 – 2024. In the era of global recession, the growth rate of the state’s economy is encouraging. Before the year 2017, the unemployment rate of the state was 14.4 percent, today it has come down to about 4.2 percent.
The Finance Minister said that the U.P. Global Investors Summit was organized grandly and very successfully. Before organizing this summit, delegations of state government ministers and officials were sent to 21 cities in 16 countries, where they apprised the business community about the possibilities of investment in the state and road shows were organized on the same theme.
Countries including USA, Canada, UK Germany, Belgium, Sweden, Netherlands, France, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Japan, South Korea, UAE, Singapore and Australia participated.
In this sequence, road shows were organized by the state government in 08 major cities of India, Mumbai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai, Delhi, Kolkata, Ahmedabad and Chandigarh. This resulted in the participation of more than 25,000 investors in the UP Global Investors Summit-2023.
He informed that Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in terms of milk production, sugarcane and sugar production and supply of ethanol. Uttar Pradesh became the first state in the country to pay subsidy to farmers on agricultural inputs through DBT. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in applying more than 39.20 crore doses of vaccination for the prevention of corona and has become the leading state in the country to establish and operate medical educational institutions.
The Finance Minister said that Uttar Pradesh has been awarded as an “Inspiring Leader” under the Startup Ranking by the Government of India. Uttar Pradesh has become the first state in the country to implement the skill development policy. Uttar Pradesh ranks first in the country in registering under the Atal Pension Yojana. Today our state is registering its strong presence not only within the country but also among the global community. This has been possible due to the continuous hard work and discipline of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Budget estimates regarding these schemes
Under the “Chief Minister Kanya Sumangala Yojana”, operated to develop positive thinking of common people towards girls, each beneficiary is being benefitted with an amount of up to Rs.15,000. A provision of Rs 1050 crore is proposed for the financial year 2023-2024.
A provision of Rs 600 crore is proposed for the Chief Minister’s Collective Marriage Scheme for the marriage of daughters of all classes. A provision of Rs 150 crore is proposed for the marriage grant scheme for the daughters of poor people belonging to other backward classes.
To make rural women self-reliant, women’s self-help groups are formed under the Women’s Empowerment Scheme. A provision of Rs 83 crore is proposed in the budget for the financial year 2023-2024 for the scheme.
At present, pension is being given to 32 lakh 62 thousand destitute women under the maintenance grant scheme for destitute widows. For this, a budget provision of Rs 4032 crore is proposed in the budget of the year 2023 2024.
Pregnant women and lactating mothers are being benefited under the Prime Minister’s Safe Motherhood Campaign. Janani Suraksha Yojana, Janani Shishu Suraksha Karyakram, Child Health Program etc. are run in the state.
Under regular vaccination in the state, 95 percent children were vaccinated by October, 2022. More than 36 lakh 82 thousand children and more than 10 lakh 31 thousand pregnant mothers were vaccinated under Mission Indra Dhanush.
Keeping in view the law and order in the state, 03 women PAC battalions are being formed to ensure maximum participation of women.
