Lucknow: Ironically the Ram temple for which Kalyan Singh struggled for a significant part of his life will not see him visit it, once the structure is built. The BJP now plans to use the Kalyan Singh legacy to its favour ahead of the Uttar Pradesh assembly polls. The Yogi Adityanath government will name a road leading to Ram Temple complex in Ayodhya. Apart from a road in Ayodhya, one road each in Lucknow, Prayagraj, Bulandshahr and Aligarh will also be named ‘Kalyan Singh Marg’. This has been said in a UP government statement.
Meanwhile in other news, Ayodhya will soon have a high-speed train between Delhi and Ayodhya. The superfast train will bring down travel time by three hours between Delhi and the holy city. The train is pegged to be named after the saffron icon.
Singh was among the tallest other backward class (OBC) leaders who helped the BJP breach the Hindi heartland in the 1990s.
The party plans to showcase him as a Hindutva as well as OBC “icon” in the state. Singh belonged to the Lodh community, which comprises at least 7 per cent of the state population.
Kalyan Singh died in Lucknow on Aug. 21 night after a prolonged illness.
