Lucknow: Last time in 2018 – 19 the Indian team had won the series 2–1 on their Australian tour of 2018-19. But this time on in the tour of 2020-21, the Indian team has had to start with a defeat because In the first match of the series, the Indian team leaving a lead 100 runs in second innings, retruned to the pavilion scoring just 36 runs.

On third day of their Pink Ball Test match in Adelaide, starting from 9/1 in the second innings, with just 27 runs to this score, all returned to the pavilion. The bitter debacle of sorts brought back memories of an embarrassing record. India beat its own record of scoring just 42 in 1974.

With this poor performance the Indian team has been bowled out for just 36 in the shortest innings in Test cricket. The only person returning unbeaten was none other than Mohammed Shami. New rules internationally are a player if injured does not get a runner and the player is considered out for not being able to bat. Hence the toal was just 36. The score is the lowest score in Test cricket for India.

Surprisngly not a single Indian batsman could cross double-digit mark. Three Indian batsmen (Cheteshwar Pujara, Ajinkya Rahane and R Ashwin) could not open account. On the other hand four returned to pavilion after scoring 4 runs. The highest scorer was Mayank Agarwal at 9. For Australia, Josh Hazlewood had 5 and Pat Cummins had 4 successes.
