Indian Railways expands the ambit of its One Station One Product scheme to give better employment a chance

Lucknow: It is known that the scheme of ‘One Station One Product’ is being implemented by Indian Railways for the protection of traditional crafts and small enterprises and for generating maximum employment. Keeping that in mind, the unique work of the famous wooden art of Varanasi, wooden toys were sold at Varanasi Jn. Railway station . “One Station One Product” scheme as a pilot project in Varanasi Jn. The station has been implemented with effect from 25.03.2022. This project is running successfully at many railway stations across India. The objective of this project is to grow and develop this small scale industry, so that by appreciating the art of local artisans, employment opportunities can be provided to them.

In view of the success of “One Station One Product” pilot project, the process of starting this pilot project is being implemented very soon at these stations by selecting other 11 nominated stations of Northern Railway Lucknow Division. Chikankari, Amla products of Pratapgarh, Jaggery products at Ayodhya Cantt, Leather products at Unnao, Moonj products at Sultanpur, Wood craft products at Rae Bareli, Woolen carpets at Jaunpur station, Textile products at Barabanki station, Carpets products at Bhadohi station.

The process of selling Moonj product at Amethi station and Jaggery product at Ayodhya station will be implemented by putting up kiosks. Through this process, the famous items / handicrafts / artifacts and art of that area will be brought to the society and the general public at designated stations in the division.

More employment opportunities can be created by spreading propaganda in the country and abroad. Thus, after the start of this pilot project at these 11 stations, this pilot project will be implemented at total 12 stations including Lucknow and Varanasi of the division.

In this project, a seller will be given 15 days to set up a stall and after 15 days another vendor will be given an opportunity. Only Rs 1000 /= will be charged from the seller in the form of token for 15 days. In case of multiple entries at a station, the vendor will be selected by lottery. For opening stalls at 11 stations of the division for the next 15 days from 01.07.2022, the seller has to put his application in the box kept in the station director/station superintendent of his station by 14:00 hrs on 29.06.2022. Other terms and conditions of the application are as follows:-

• Whatever infrastructure is required to implement the One Station One Product scheme will be provided by the Railways and the electricity bill will be paid by the licensee on the basis of actual consumption.
• Temporary stall will be provided by railways and water will be provided free of cost by railways.
• Stall allottees will be allowed to sell from the stall itself. Platform vending will not be allowed.
• POS/Swipe Machine, BHIM Mobile Wallet will have to be kept at the stall to promote cashless transactions through the licensee.
• Licensee will be allowed to sell and display products of local producers.
• Railway administration will have full right to terminate the contract.
• The salesmen appointed by the licensee who will be employed in the above work, they will all be in clean, proper dress and will hold the identity card issued by the station director / station superintendent, in which the name of the vendor, the name of the item and the period will be mentioned.
• The rate list of the goods to be sold to the public will be displayed on the stall.
• PAN card and Aadhar card will be presented by the applicant along with the application form.
• The licensee shall appoint not more than four vendors to sell the goods in the railway premises.
• Railway Administration will not be responsible for any loss or damage to the license.
• The licensee will ensure statutory compliance like FSSAI norms, waste management, pollution control etc.
