Lucknow / Vrindavan: The country’s largest city forest (city forest) is being built in Vrindavan by the Yogi Adityanath government of UP. Saubhari Nagar Van is being developed by the Forest Department on 130 hectares of land near Sunrakh village of Vrindavan. The work of this ambitious project of the government, Saubhari City Forest, is being done collectively by the local district administration, Uttar Pradesh Brij Teerth Vikas Parishad, Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority and Forest Department.
76 thousand saplings will be planted
130 hectares of land including Sunrakh and Atas villages and Jahangirpur Khadar of Vrindavan have been given to the Forest Department for 10 years. Here forest department is making forest by planting more than 76 thousand saplings. Work is being done in two phases in Saubhari Nagar Forest. Here in the first phase, 76875 saplings have been planted by the Forest Department in an area of 123 hectares. Among these plants are Pakhar, Peepal, Jamun, Shisham, Amla, Neem, Arjuna, Banyan, Mango, Jamun etc. It is expected that it will become much bigger by next year. About 25 types of trees of mythological importance of Braj have been planted in this forest. This city forest is spread over an area of three kilometers.
Will be given the form of a park
Regional Forest Officer Brijesh Singh Parmar told that in the coming time it will also be given the form of a park. So that devotees and tourists can come and roam here. Jogging tracks, swings and other facilities for children will be developed here. After its work is completed, this forest will be opened for the common people. Along with this, species-wise blocks will be fenced with barbed wire at the selected site for plant maintenance. Apart from this, 4 watch towers will also be built at the selected site by fencing with barbed wire on the pillars. Whose work will be done by Mathura-Vrindavan Development Authority.
The place has mythological significance
The project site selected for Saubhari City Forest has Kosi on one side and Yamuna river on the other side. This middle place is the Kaliyadah Daman Leela of Lord Krishna and the Taposthali of Saubhari Rishi. For this reason, the selected area is also very important in mythological, religious and historical form. Even today there is an ashram of Saubhari Rishi in Sunrakh. There is also a description about Saubhari Rishi in the sixth chapter of the ninth adhyay of Vishnu Purana, Devi Bhagavata Purana and Shrimad Bhagavata Purana.
Largest ‘city forest’
This project will lead to the development of eco-restoration, local environmental site. At the same time, the problem of monkeys will also be solved. In future, arrangements will be made to keep monkeys in this forest. This Saubhari city forest to be developed in Mathura-Vrindavan will be the biggest city forest in the country.
