Lucknow: In a record of sorts, the West Central Railway has become the first fully electrified zone in the country. Speaking on the feat, Railway Minister Piyush Goyal shared this information on Twitter through a video of the operational train on the electrification route of Kota-Chittorgarh railway line.
Goyal tweeted, “With the completion of electrification of Rajasthan’s Kota-Chittorgarh railway line, West Central Railway has become the first fully electrified zone in the country.
He further pointed out that trains passing through here will now be able to operate at a faster speed. Something that will bring in benefits like saving oil, reduction in travel time, and environmental protection.
Notably West Central Railway turned into a reality after a formal issuing of notification of formation of this railway on 4 July 2002 by the Ministry of Railways, Government of India.
It is headquartered in Jabalpur. Under this, Jabalpur, Bhopal and Kota are three divisions.
