IPL Warriors score a big win at the Night Golf Carnival
Lucknow: IPL Warriors scored a big 4-1 win over Ramswaroop Tigerz to lay down the marker in the opening round of the Night Golf Carnival powered by Lucknow Golf League being played here at the Lucknow Golf Club. They lead Group B with 20 points already on the board with PR Hyundai who won their match against Ekana Titans in second place.
In the day’s other matches, SR Tigers scored an upset against the fancied Amazing Origins by storming to a 3.5-1.5 victory while Dabang Daredevils made short work of TrueFriend Basecamp Champions with a similar scoreline.
The IPL Warriors led by captain Sandeep Das scored the biggest margin of victory yet, in the Fourball format as they wrapped up a 4&2 win. Aamer Shaikh & Rajesh Mishra scored the consolation win for Ramswaroop Tigerz with 2&1 after all the other games went in the Warriors’ favour.
SR Tigers went out with a point to prove as Amazing Origins could not match up to their intensity. Ashutosh Kumar put the first points on the board for SR while captain Rakesh Seth & Mayank Pant continued the momentum. The clincher came with Deepak Kumar & Sharad Kapoor carding the win with one game halved. The Origins captain, Ankit Khandelwal dug deep to carve out a point having hit an eagle 2 on the par 4 5th hole to further their lead in the game he played with Sudhanshu Dubey.
With the first round robin matches completed, Dabang Daredevils & SR Tigers are tied at the top of the Group A leaderboard while Group C is led by Speed Chargers over Legends & Shalimar Jewels Knight Riders.
Earlier in the week, Speed Chargers pipped GS Express by a point while Legends & Knight Riders playing out a tie. The event also saw the club initiating a Shingles disease awareness program for its members over 50 years of age.
