It is our reponsibility to help the farmer in every possible way – Swatantra Dev Singh

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Jal Shakti Minister  Swatantradev Singh said in a program organized for posting of newly promoted 67 Executive Engineers of Irrigation and Water Resources Department (Mechanical Cadre) on seniority basis in the auditorium of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia, Parikalpa Bhawan, Telibagh . For the first time in the department, Gazetted officers of Group ‘A’ are being posted with complete transparency through software medium. I wish all the newly promoted executive engineers a bright future and hope that all of you, while discharging your state responsibilities with full dedication, try to provide the benefits of irrigation facilities to the farmers.

The Minister of Jal Shakti said on the occasion that just as the country is strengthened by having an army soldier on the border, in the same way, having a farmer in the field fills the stomach of the country. It is a matter of pride to have a farmer in the field and a jawan on the border. Farmer is our food provider. We get inspiration from farmers for hard work, honesty and sense of duty. Farmers are also our jawans. It is our responsibility to help them in every possible way by going to the culmination of hard work. He told the newly promoted Executive Engineers that you should do the departmental works with utmost sincerity so that the public can get the full benefit of the schemes of the department. He also said that whatever responsibilities are given in the department, discharge them with full devotion. He said that it should be your priority to do departmental works on time and with complete honesty. Target the schemes run by the department and complete them on time so that the public can get the benefit and the image of the government can be improved even more.

It is noteworthy that under the able guidance of Minister of Jal Shakti, 67 Executive Engineers (Gazetted Officers of First Class) of Mechanical Cadre have been posted in Irrigation and Water Resources Department through software, adopting a completely transparent and fair system, newly promoted Executive Engineers on the basis of seniority. Based on the options selected by the new postings were provided.

On this occasion, the Jal Shakti Minister said that the State Government has always been friendly to the farmers. The development of marginal and small farmers is the top priority of the government. The government is sensitive towards the problems of the farmers and is working towards achieving the goal of doubling the income of each farming family of the state.

Swatantra Dev Singh said that under Irrigation (Mechanical) organization in the state, about 29 lakh hectare irrigation potential has been created from 34316 state tube wells and about 2 lakh hectare irrigation potential from 252 minor branch canals. In addition, 29 major and medium pump canals are functional, whose top work is performed by the mechanical organization. The operation and maintenance of mechanical equipments and plants installed on barrages, dams and regulators located on various rivers of the state is also done by the mechanical organization.

Singh said that Irrigation (Mechanical) organization is making continuous efforts for the creation and construction of ground water and surface water irrigation projects for progressive increase in irrigation resources. Various projects of construction / modernization of state tube wells and construction of small branch canals are currently prevalent in the state. Through which the availability of water for irrigation is being provided to the marginal and small farmers of different districts of the state as per their convenience. He said that the post of Executive Engineer (Mechanic) is very important, through whom the operation and maintenance work of mechanical equipments and plants installed on state tube wells, small branch canals, barrages, dams and regulators along with other government works were performed.

On this occasion Minister of State for Jal Shakti  Ramkesh Nishad, Principal Secretary Irrigation and Water Resources Anil Garg, Chief Engineer and Head of Department  Mustaq Ahmed, Chief Engineer Mechanical  Devendra Agrawal, Chief Engineer, Planning and Planning  NC Upadhyay, all newly promoted Executive Engineers and other Departmental officers were present.
