New Delhi: There were initial reports of BJP President Jagat Prakash Nadda being given an extension, but now there is talk of giving him one more full term. Party sources say that the state elections are going to be held continuously followed by the Lok Sabha elections. In such a situation, the BJP organization does not want to get involved in the elections. Instead, the effort of the BJP is to retain the existing organization and channelize all its strength into the state elections.
Elections to Gujarat and Himachal Pradesh are due in November. In such a situation, the BJP does not want any kind of change to be made before the elections. After this elections are going to be held in important states like Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka. Elections to a total of 11 states, including Tripura, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Telangana, are to be held before the 2024 general elections.
In such a situation, the BJP does not want any weakness to be seen in the election results as it will spoil its perception about 2024. This is the reason that the idea of giving JP Nadda a second consecutive term is going on. The party’s constitution also allows that any leader can remain the national president without election for two consecutive terms. JP Nadda was given the responsibility of working president of the party in July 2019, when Amit Shah got entry in the government.
After this, in January 2020, JP Nadda got the responsibility as the full-time national president. Since then, he has given the party big victories in many big states including UP.
Party sources said that if the organization elections were to be held, the process would have started in the states by now. The reason for this is that the process of organization elections in the states starts 6 months before the election of the national president. These have not started, which is indicating that Nadda will get another term. Recently many such senior leaders have been made in-charge of the states by the BJP, who were away from any important responsibility for a long time. With all the changes in the leadership of JP Nadda in the organization, it is also believed that he will continue for another term.
