Jal Shakti minister Swatantra Dev Singh unveils Hello Kisan Seva call centre
Lucknow: Jal Shakti Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Swatantra Dev Singh inaugurated the centralized call center of Hello Kisan Seva located on the third floor of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Parikalp Bhawan, Telibagh. On this occasion, he talked to the farmers and also confirmed the availability of water. Under Hello Kisan Seva, daily talks will be held with the farmers related to the canal to confirm the availability of water and the problems related to the canal will be resolved. Hello Kisan Seva’s toll free helpline number is 18001805450, on which you can call and complain about the problem related to canal/tube well, which will be resolved by the departmental officers and they will also be informed.
Earlier, under the chairmanship of Jal Shakti Minister Swatantra Dev Singh, a state level workshop was organized today in the auditorium of Dr. Ram Manohar Lohia Parikalp Bhavan regarding quality silt cleaning and pothole-free canal tracks, in which chief engineers of irrigation and water resources were present. Superintending Engineers and Executive Engineers participated. Jal Shakti Minister directed the officers present to do the work with quality and in the interest of farmers in a timely manner.
Jal Shakti Minister directed to pay special attention to quality in the work of silt cleaning and pothole-free/renovation of canal tracks. This year (2023-24), it is proposed to carry out silt cleaning in total length of 50,500 km in Rabi and Kharif. Whereas this year (2023-24) the department is proposed to repair 288.00 km long canal tracks and renovate 1810.00 km long canal tracks (total 2098.00 km).
In the workshop, the senior officers shared their thoughts and experiences in detail among the officers present regarding silt cleaning and pothole freeing of canal tracks and the prevailing departmental specifications for quality execution of works and instructions were given to get the work done as per the above.
It is noteworthy that the Irrigation and Water Resources Department provides irrigation facilities to the farmers through 75,090.90 km long canal systems and 34,263 government tube wells using surface water and underground water. In the last year 2022-23, before Rabi and Kharif irrigation, silt cleaning of canals in total length of 50,769 km was done by the department, due to which adequate availability of irrigation water could be ensured till the tails of the canals. The Irrigation and Water Resources Department has included the program of preserving canal tracks for smooth traffic in its annual action plan from the year 2017-18. Since then, the program of pothole-free/renovation of canal tracks is being run continuously. In the last year (2022-23), the department got 271.01 km long canal tracks repaired and 1680.53 km long canal tracks renovated (total 1951.62 km).
On this occasion, Principal Secretary Irrigation and Water Resources Anil Kumar Garg, Chief Engineer and Head of Department Anil Kumar, Chief Engineer Project and Planning Alok Kumar Jain, Chief Engineer Project Akhilesh Kumar, Chief Engineer Mechanical Devendra Aggarwal and concerned officers were present.
