Emphasizing the same, On September 18, 2021, Jaipuria Institute of Management, Lucknow witnessed a Business Communication Conclave on a much entrancing and highly insightful theme “Leveraging Social Media Communication for Professional Effectiveness”.
The session was graced with the presence of Dr. Kavita Pathak (Director, Jaipuria Lucknow) and Prof. Abha Dixit (Chair, Business Communication Area, Jaipuria Lucknow). The dignified Keynote speaker for the day was Anindita Mookerjee Sinha (Head of Corporate Communication at L&T Metro Rail).
The eminent guest orators for the conclave were Hitha B Gujjar (Internal Communication Specialist at PhonePe), Barnali Das (Head of Corporate Communication at Uber India & South Asia), Saif Faruqi (National Head, Corporate Communications at HDFC Ltd.), DivyaSud (Senior Brand Manager at Duroflex). The Communication Experts from different organizations accentuated how an individual or organization can leverage social media effectively for professional visibility and branding.
The amazing session pondered around how social media has taken over the business sphere, the advertising sphere, and additionally, the education sector, the challenges it has created, and also to know how COVID-19 has transformed the way people do business and communicate with their customers. Dr. Kavita Pathak shared her valuable thoughts on the topic. She talked about how COVID-19 has transformed a person’s journey and shifted our communication from physical to screen-to-screen. She believes that Social Media platforms like LinkedIn have gained humungous momentum and have been a companion for professionals in the covid times.
The session then went on further with Dr. Abha Dixit taking over the virtual dais and putting forward her views on the topic. She said during the covid-19 crisis, platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn have transformed the way people do business and communicate with their customers. She believes said that though social media has assisted in building social capital and had made people much more comfortable still the communication is equally thwarting and challenging in terms of what a person posts on his social media sites and how he uses it. Dr. Dixit said just as businesses can communicate about their brands, gain new customers and retain the old ones. The customers can also reach out to the concerned organizations easily through social media.
Thereafter Anindita Mookerjee Sinha was invited to share her thoughts on the topic wherein she emphasized ‘Social Media Networking’ which can take one’s brand and personal visibility forward. Her exquisite perceptions like ‘First you yourself need to be a brand to take your brand further and Life is a business and you’re your own CEO’ were thought-provoking. The importance of internal and external stakeholders in a business who not only act as a cohort for your business in the time of crisis but also help you increase your brand equity was italicized upon. She told that in order to have professional effectiveness, understanding talent acquisition and growth, one must leverage social media as it has been a great opportunity and boon for us in branding. She believes that social media has been a great companion for each one of us as we were able to do so many new and eccentric things which were not much convenient previously. Ms. Sinha also accentuated the type of content and posts one uses on social media.
The session witnessed a huge gamut of pros and cons of leveraging social media and also laid emphasis on attaining perfect communication in these competitive eras, particularly in the context of barriers it sets- emotional, credibility, attention, and semantic.
