Mumbai: It says the creative mind always aspires to change the world with creativity. One such brilliant creative mind producer and director Jude Peter Damian has brought a cinematic wonder, SHASHTHI that has already won 25 awards and went on to 59 film festivals. SHASHTHI being his first short film digs into the world of a girl and her journey.
While Jude as a director always wanted to make movies projecting “good characters” that will be examples for the societies, particularly for Developing Nations / Societies, while exhibiting the Art of movie making and SHASHTHI is a perfect reflection of his ideologies. While the film is an interesting tale about Devi, a woman from an economically weaker background, changes to the extent that she is equated to “SHASHTHI” a Goddess of children. It is about how ordinary people (particularly women) can do “great” things and about how perceptions change under different circumstances. The film will see a change of perceptions when knowledge under different circumstances comes in.
While talking about the recognition that the film is receiving constantly, Jude shared “Right from the time of writing/planning of the film production, I had International film Awards in my mind. While I’m happy about the recognition from so many International Film festivals, honestly I’m slightly disappointed that the film is unable to enter the Academy Award competition. Hopefully, I’ll be able to make a film in the near future, that gets the nomination in Academy Award / Cannes Festival”.
Having planted 30 years of his life as a Chartered Accountant, Jude has his roots deep down in Chennai. While the CA turned filmmaker has his interest laid in filmmaking, he considers himself the same as everyone who wants to have their association with films but what sets him apart from everyone is his award-winning short film, SHASHTHI.
