Lucknow: Under the able guidance of Deputy Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Keshav Prasad Maurya, this year 54.17 lakh man-days have been created by the Rural Development Department by planting 12 crore 32 lakh saplings. Deputy Chief Minister Maurya instructed the officers that every possible measure should be taken to keep the planted plants 100% alive. Maurya said that while planting the plants, it is more important to keep them alive.
Rural Development Commissioner GS Priyadarshi informed that in order to strengthen the environment in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government had set a target of planting 35 crore trees under the tree plantation campaign year 2022-23. In which 12 crore 32 lakh saplings were planted by the Rural Development Department (MGNREGA) by running a campaign for tree plantation on different dates under the able guidance of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad.
Plantation was done on 8200 Amrit Sarovars on 15th August. Plantation was done on the banks of 61 rivers. A total amount of Rs.113.21 crore was spent in the state, generating 54.17 lakh man-days by planting trees at 90,496 community places and planting trees on the lands of 1,98,210 individual beneficiaries.
Mainly trees like Peepal, Neem, Mango, Bel, Teak etc. have been planted. To maintain 100% viability of the planted saplings, arrangements have also been made for 03 years maintenance at community sites.
