Lucknow: In the run-up to the Panchayat elections there is a strong possibility that there could be a transfer of police superintendents on a large scale. The districts where transfers are likely are those where the top cops have been occupying positions for long. The probable shifts are likely in four districts of western Uttar Pradesh as well as several districts of eastern Uttar Pradesh.
Sources say preparations are going on at DGP Headquarters and Home Department level. Soon some good officers will be retrenched and sent to other places. Sources have also hinted that besides the Superintendents of Police, IGs of at least five ranges will also be replaced soon. Some are retiring in the next three-four months and some have received promotions, yet they have stay put as ADG.
Five officers of IG level and seven officers of DIG level will retire in the next three to four months. This includes IG Vijay Bhushan in the recruitment board in April, Piyush Srivastava, IG of Mirzapur range, Subhash Singh Baghel, IG Jhansi range in May, Rajesh Pandey, IG of Bareilly range and Jitendra Kumar Shukla in June.
Among the retired DIGs, Ashok Kumar III posted in EOW, Ratan Kant Pandey posted in security, Sriparna Ganguly posted in Noida Commissionerate, Ashok Kumar Pandey posted in CBCID, suspended DIG DC Dubey, DIG Dilip Kumar in PTC Sitapur and DIG in Power Corporation Sadhana Goswami.
