Kanpur: Kumar Keshav has given the gift of Metro to Kanpur, built in the shortest time to the city which is called Manchaster of the East. He was selected in the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Roorkee in 1977. From here he did B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Soon thereafter, he did M.Tech with Gold Medal in Geotechnical, Soil Mechanics and Foundation Engineering from IIT-Kanpur.
After this, selection was made in the Indian Railway Service of Engineers (IRSE) through the Union Public Service Commission. He joined Indian Railways in June 1984 and got the first position in Bilaspur under South Eastern Railway. After this, he worked in Kharagpur for about four years. Worked as Senior Rail Co-ordinator in Jhansi under Central Railway for three years.
In 2002, as Chief Engineer, Delhi Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. associated with the. Worked as Executive Director and Director (Project & Planning) in Delhi Metro.
In 2012, Kumar Keshav left Delhi Metro and moved to Brisbane (Australia). Here he held the position of Project Director in the Heavy-Hall Project.
In the year 2014, Uttar Pradesh Metro Rail Corporation Ltd. (Formerly became the Managing Director of Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation Ltd.). Under his leadership, the Lucknow Metro project was gifted the fastest underground metro station ‘Chowdhary Charan Singh Airport Metro Station’ to be built. On 28/12/2021, Kanpur will get India’s shortest metro to be constructed.
