Last rites of saffron icon Kalyan Singh on Monday, state in mourning

Lucknow: Former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister and Rajasthan Governor Kalyan Singh died on Saturday at Lucknow’s PGI Hospital after a prolonged illness. Kalyan Singh was ill for the last several days after which he was admitted to PGI on 4th July where he passed away last night.

Condoling the death of Kalyan Singh, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has declared August 23 as a public holiday. The Chief Minister has declared August 23 as a public holiday with three days of state mourning on the death of Kalyan Singh.  Singh’s health worsened on Saturday, many of his organs had stopped working. After which he breathed his last at 9.15 pm.

The body of Kalyan Singh was brought to his residence on Mall Avenue in Lucknow where Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and his cabinet members paid tribute. The information about the death of Kalyan Singh was given by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath by tweeting, after which a cabinet meeting was held on Saturday night to express grief over his death.

The last rites of Kalyan Singh will be held on 23 August at Narora on the banks of river Ganga. State Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while condoling the death of Kalyan Singh said that in Indian politics, there is an irreparable loss to the entire nation.  Tributes poured in for him from all quarters. Deputy Chief Minister Dinesh Sharma and Keshav Prasad Maurya have also expressed grief over the death of Kalyan Singh.

Apart from this, many top leaders of the country have condoled the death of Kalyan Singh. Akhil Bharatiya Akhara Parishad chief Mahant Narendra Giri said that the country’s politics has lost a top leader.
