Latest buzz in U.P., state will get new Assembly building with modern appeal

Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Assembly Speaker Satish Mahana has announced that a new assembly building will be built in the capital of Uttar Pradesh. He said he was hopeful that the 18th Assembly, whose term ends in 2027, would be able to hold some sittings in the new building.

The Speaker said that funds have been set aside for the project and the work will start soon. The UP government will appoint a consultant to design the new assembly, which should be strong and well-equipped keeping in mind the technological developments.

The Government of Uttar Pradesh has made a token budgetary provision of Rs.50 crore for this purpose. The token amount will take care of the design and other basic requirements of the project, sources said.

The proper budget for the construction of the new assembly will be announced later. Sources said the land for the construction of the new building is yet to be identified, but it is likely that around 160 acres of land was identified during the Akhilesh Yadav government near Chak Gajaria Farm on Sultanpur Road.

The objective can be finalized. The new building was also likely to house a gymnasium and recreational facilities.
