Lucknow: Urban Development and Energy Minister of Uttar Pradesh, AK Sharma said that consumers are demanding electricity bills but the electricity personnel are not able to provide the bills on time. For this, he gave strict instructions that the billing system should be brought back on track with complete transparency. So that consumers can pay their bills on time.
For this the system should also be completely upgraded. He said that strict action will be taken against the electricity workers who ignore the problems of electricity consumers and deliberately create obstacles in their resolution. In this, the system of nexus with brokers will also be ended. He said that the situation in the electricity department has become such that the branch on which the electrical worker is sitting is being cut. Due to a little carelessness of the employees, the life of the consumers is becoming hell. Now people will not be allowed to eat cream by harassing them.
The system of robbing consumers will be ended at any cost. He said in a strict tone that the mismanagement of the electricity department will not be tolerated even for a moment. Lax work culture and misbehavior of employees will not be tolerated
Energy Minister A.K. Sharma was holding a virtual public hearing today on the first Wednesday of the month under the arrangement of ‘Sambhava’ at Shakti Bhawan to resolve the complaints of consumers. During this, he talked to the complainants virtually and got 15 sample complaints resolved.
The complainants were satisfied with the minister’s action and also praised his working style. In the public hearing, he came to ‘Sambhav’ portal related to wrong action of vigilance team, bill modification, wrong bill, compensation, connection disconnection, reading, non-arrival of bill, increase in sanctioned load and fake private tube well connections. Listened to the problems and got them resolved.
During the public hearing, the Energy Minister gave instructions to take strict action against the concerned SDO for not issuing the electricity bill even after 8 months by giving a commercial connection to Vivek Kumar Gupta, a resident of Hapur district. Similarly, when the complaint of Sant Kabir Nagar resident Ayodhya Prasar Pandey regarding high electricity bill did not get resolved even after visiting the electricity offices for months and he misbehaved with the victim, instructions were given to investigate and take strict action against the concerned SDO.
Instructions were given to terminate the services of meter reader Ram Singh, resident of Pilibhit, Kundan Singh, for repeatedly giving wrong bills. He said that the services of any employee found guilty or tainted should not be taken in the department. Wherever the officer responsible for any problem is, his responsibility should be fixed and his application should be called, show cause notice should also be given to him. He instructed MD UPPCL to take strict action against those responsible for wrong bills.
When the wheat crop of Siddharth Nagar resident Dhirendra Prasad Mishra got burnt due to electrical sparking, A.K. Sharma gave strict instructions on not getting compensation for the burnt crop even after 13 years, to prevent burning of crops due to electricity, fire in houses, harm to animals and people. Now there will be no delay of any kind in giving compensation for death due to electrocution. When RCs were issued to Lucknow resident Neeraj Kumar Sharma and Aligarh resident Smt. Shakuntala Devi for recovery of bills, he said that they should be reviewed before such situations arise. He instructed to give notice to the concerned meter company and to check the meters installed by this company at other consumers’ houses if the complaint of Deepesh, resident of Banda district, that the bill was not made as per meter reading and the complaint of meter running too fast was found to be true. Similarly, when it took two and a half years to rectify the fake bill coming from the private tube well of Bijnor resident Rahul Gehlot, the MD was instructed to investigate the functioning of the concerned SDO.
During the review, Energy Minister AK Sharma directed that all the DISCOMs should speed up the work being done under the RDSS business plan so that supply can be provided to the consumers. He asked all the DISCOMs to work on war footing by creating control rooms and war rooms. Now the problem of power outage due to slight wind blowing has to be solved. All discoms should give new connections to consumers only through armed cable. Try to reduce the burning of transformers and also replace damaged transformers on time. The process of separating agricultural feeders should be expedited, so that there is no disruption in power supply to farmers. He directed that all the Discoms should contact the cable agencies of their area and get the wires spread in the electric poles done, so that people do not get inconvenienced due to unnecessary cobwebs. He praised the officials for receiving more revenue than last year and gave instructions for further improvement in it. He asked for wide publicity of the works being done in all DISCOMs. So that people can get information about the work of the department. He said that there is no financial shortage to implement the plans. The work should be expedited. Spend money on time. We have to remove consumer dissatisfaction at any cost and provide uninterrupted, quality electricity to the state.
