Mumbai: Mumbai Indians have been in shambles with eight back to back losses in the current IPL season. It’s however advantage for the Lucknow Supergiants as they beat MI in their last outing. Led by prolific KL Rahul he hit a century to push his side to 168 for 6. The bowling attack of the SuperGiants was well orchestrated to eventually secure a 36-run victory. MI suffered their eighth-successive defeat of the season.
While the wickets falling in quick succession threatened to derail the Lucknow side, a determined Rahul pushed them ahead. They went after Jaydev Unadkat in the 18th over with a hattrick of fours and brought up his second century of the season. LSG smashed 52 off the final five overs to reach 168 for 6.
Even as Rohit Sharma began briskly, Kishan was overtly circumspect and just couldn’t break the shackles all through the PowerPlay.
MI’s only bright spot Tilak Verma came to the team’s rescue, with a 27-ball 38. He and Kieron Pollard were in the middle together. Varma spearheaded 14th, as he hit two sixes and collected 16 runs off Bishnoi.
LSG have a brief break after which they face PBKS on Friday (April 29) in Pune.
