In fact, the Lucknow University has started the registration process from this time for admission in various subjects for the academic session 2023-24 May in the university campus and degree colleges. Under this, students will have to pay a fee of Rs 100 to participate in the registration process.

As soon as the order was issued, various student organizations started protesting.  Samajwadi Chhatra Sabha and Birsa Ambedkar Phule Students’ Organization (BAPSA) jointly staged a sit-in protest in the university campus.

The student organizations alleged that the university administration was deliberately inflicting financial huge on the poor students. The protesting student organizations say that poor farmers, economically weak students come to the university to study.

In such a situation, imposing an additional fee of even ₹ 100 on them is an economic burden. The university administration has deliberately increased this burden on the students from this time onwards. Later, the students submitted a memorandum to the Vice-Chancellor Prof. Alok Kumar Rai demanding the fulfillment of their demands.
