Luckow: Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia called a review meeting for the entire drain cleaning from the city before waterlogging in the city, and instructed the officials to start the work of cleaning the drain without delay.
During this, the Mayor directed the Health Department to start cleaning 10 thousand drains of 1 meter immediately and also asked to repeat this sequence every 15 days.
Along with this, for the drains to be cleaned by the Engineering Department, it was directed to issue tender immediately after calling for estimates from all the zones, for this the Mayor has made a provision of Rs 5 crore from the fund of the 15th Finance Commission and Rs 6 crore in the budget.
Due to which a total of 535 drains will be cleaned. The Mayor also directed that after cleaning now, the drains should be cleaned once again before the rainy season, till then no payment will be made. Along with this, the mayor also directed for complete cleaning of covered drains.
The Mayor said that 123 drains larger than 3 meters would be cleaned with machines by the RR Department, on which an expenditure of Rs 1 crore would be incurred. The mayor directed to get the drain cleaned by running the machine in two shifts day and night.
The Mayor said I myself will inspect the drain cleaning, if there is a flood, action will be taken against the officials.
Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia, while warning the officials on cleaning the drain, said that if there is any disturbance in cleaning the drain, then the officials will be responsible and action will be taken against them. Any kind of negligence in cleaning the drain will not be tolerated.
In the review meeting of drain cleaning, Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia along with Additional Municipal Commissioner Pankaj Singh, Chief Engineer Mahesh Verma, Ram Nagina Tripathi, City Health Officer Sunil Kumar along with the engineers of all the zones were present.
