Lucknow Mayor leads Lucknow Municipal Corporation in record planting of samplings
Lucknow: A total of 92875 saplings were planted in the city by Lucknow Municipal Corporation in a massive tree plantation campaign, exceeding the target 88750.
Under a special massive tree plantation campaign, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation planted saplings of different species in all the zones, parks and other public places located in all the wards.
The said tree plantation campaign was started by Mayor Sanyukta Bhatia while planting saplings in Sector-L Park located in the metropolis. Nodal Officer/Additional Chief Secretary of Lucknow district, Dr. Rajneesh Dubey was present as a special guest at the time of plantation. Plantation was also done by the Additional Chief Secretary in Satbagalia Park located in the metropolitan area.
On the occasion of the inauguration, Municipal Commissioner Inderjit Singh, Chief Development Officer Riya Kejriwal, Additional Municipal Commissioner Abhay Pandey and Pankaj Singh, Regional Councilor Shailendra Singh Ballu, Zonal Officer Zone-3 Ambi Bisht, Horticulture Superintendent Gangaram Gautam, Executive Engineer, Assistant Engineer etc., along with local residents were present and their participation was provided by all in plantation.
Various public representatives, ward’s Councillors, school students, Residents Welfare Association, Society, Voluntary/Non-Government Organizations, Civil Society, Board of Trade, Youth and Nari Shakti organizations have made their valuable contribution through active role.
In this special massive plantation drive being run by the Municipal Corporation Lucknow, various species of ornamental, shady and fruit trees like Ashok, Kachnar, Peltophorum, Gudhal, Chandni, Kesia, Tikoya, Gulmohar, Kaner, have been obtained by the Forest Department. Manokamini, Punarjiva, Talumeria, Pendla, Ashok Moulshree, Tibovia, Bottlepom, Cajurana, Jarul, Junipram along with guava, jamun, mulberry, tamarind, mango and teak etc. A total of 92,875 saplings were planted from morning to evening in parks, groves, green belts along the roads and other places respectively.
With the unprecedented cooperation and contribution of all, the Municipal Corporation has succeeded in planting 92875 saplings in Lucknow city with an increase from the target, achieving the target 88750 set by the Forest Department in this campaign on July 05.
