Lucknow Municipal Corporation working hard to protect destitute cattle
Lucknow: Instructions have been given for 100% protection of destitute cattle by running a special campaign from 01.11.23 to 31.12.23 In accordance with the said order, the Principal Secretary Livestock inaugurated the campaign by setting up a cowshed at Sarai Sheikh on 7 acres of land included in the city limits.
Inspection was conducted and instructions were given to the Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Lucknow to develop the said cow shed as a Nandi Shala Sanctuary.
In the first phase, instructions were given to preserve 200 Nandis and complete the work by 30th November and in the second phase,
A target was given to increase the capacity to 750, along with this, instructions were given to produce weather and environment friendly green fodder for the sustenance of the cattle.
The Principal Secretary along with construction of boundary wall at the said site along with construction of calf conservation house, tin shed, etc. Instructions were given to prepare a detailed project report for the construction of Nandishala and a caretaker room for 24-hour supervision of Nandishala.
On the first day of the campaign, with the help of the Municipal Corporation, 19 cattle were preserved in the temporary cowshed located at Chinhat Development Block, Papnamau, in the presence of Principal Secretary Livestock.
In the said program, Inderjit Singh, Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Lucknow, Chief Development Officer, Ajay Jain, Additional Municipal Commissioner, Municipal Corporation, Lucknow, Dr. Arvind Rao, Additional Director of Animal Husbandry, Dr. P.N. Singh, Chief Veterinary Officer, Dr. Arvind Verma, Animal Welfare Officer Dr. Abhinav Verma, and regional public representatives along with other officials and villagers were present.
The said campaign will be run for a total of 60 days and destitute cattle will be captured and preserved in cow shelters.
