Lucknow University students get ringside view of rumblings in Lok Adalat
Lucknow: Legal Aid Centre established under the aegis of District Legal Services Authority at the University of Lucknow, Lucknow conducted a Lok Adalat visit on 21st May, 2023 under the guidance of Head and Dean, Faculty of Law, Prof.(Dr.) B.D.Singh, and Chairman of Legal Aid Centre, Dr. Alok Kumar Yadav, at the District Court, Lucknow. National Lok Adalat was organised at the District Court, Lucknow in which disputes were settled out of court for their speedy disposal.
Legal Aid Centre visited the District Court to observe the National Lok Adalat which was set up for the settlement of disputes related to loans, family matters, motor accidents, etc. The members split up into teams and visited the various court rooms in which cases were being addressed. The teams enquired about the types of cases heard, the duration of the cases, the relief provided to the parties and other information in order to make use of this opportunity to its fullest.
The Secretary of District Legal Services Authority, Satyendra Singh along with the student convenor of Legal Aid Centre, Saurabh Rathore inspected each court room to make sure that the purpose of the National Lok Adalat was served and the people were benefited. The teams interacted with the legal officers of the bank regarding the details of the disputes concerning loans.
The advocates appointed for the National Lok Adalat also told about the advantages of Lok Adalat over the regular course of litigation. The members also interacted with the parties of disputes to know about their grievances and their view regarding the settlement. It was a fruitful visit for the members as they got practical experience of court and grievance redressal.
