Maithli Thakur, Warsi Brothers, Indian Ocean to headline Taj Mahotsav
Agra: Taj Mahotsav will be inaugurated on 20 February. The festival will continue till March 1. This has to be done because of Shahjahan’s Urs from 17th to 19th and the Chief Minister’s visit on 19th February to celebrate Chhatrapati Shivaji’s birth anniversary. The preparations for the Taj Mahotsav seems to be getting affected this time due to the G20 summit.
Although officials of the tourism department say that preparations at the ground level will be completed in a day or two, but now all the work is being done in a hurry. Chhatrapati Shivaji’s birth anniversary is also being celebrated in Agra Fort. Due to the arrival of CM, officials of various departments will be busy in it. The theme of this time has been kept as World Brotherhood G20. On the basis of that, painting is being done in the Shilpgram complex. The Muktakashiy Manch is also being decorated on the same theme.
The dates have been changing in the past as well, due to the assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh from February 10 to March 7 last year, the model code of conduct had already been imposed. Due to this even the tender for Taj Mahotsav could not be done. Then the festival had to be held in March. In 2012 and 2017 also, due to the assembly elections, the Taj Mahotsav was held in March instead of February 18 to 27.
