Malihabad to be the next cradle for new age boxers to train and rise
Lucknow: Lucknow’s Malihabad area famous for mangoes will soon be known for women boxers as well. Its preparation has started. Additional Chief Secretary, Sports and Youth Welfare Dr. Navneet Sehgal inaugurated the Josh Boxing Academy established in collaboration with Human Unity Movement (HUM) and UTIITSL in Malihabad. Free training will be given to rural girls in this academy.
On this occasion, Dr. Sehgal said that there is a lot of talent in rural areas. With the availability of such facilities, a large number of talented sportspersons from rural areas will emerge and will increase the pride of the state in the country and the world. The academy will play a major role in bringing girls forward in boxing.
Earlier the girls used to practice in the gardens here, now boxing rings and equipment have been arranged for the girls from the CSR fund. He said that for the convenience of the boxers, a multipurpose hall would be prepared in this academy by the state government. Along with this, under Eklavya Sports Fund, coaches will also be made available for giving high level training to the girls.
Additional Chief Secretary said that the state government is making efforts to increase sports facilities in rural areas. 30 thousand playgrounds have been identified in the rural areas of the state. They will be developed in coordination with MNREGA. Apart from this, the work of construction of 122 stadiums is going on in rural areas. A mini stadium will be established in each block of the state. He said that the government is motivating women in rural areas. In this sequence, whatever help will be given by the government to advance the women players.
On this occasion, Justice Sudhir Kumar Saxena, Former Chairman of UP State Public Service Tribunal, Dr. Shuchita Chaturvedi, Member of UP State Child Rights Protection Commission, Nodal Officer for UTIITSL, Navi Mumbai, Naina Kotian and rural girls were present.
