Mankameshwar temple giving women employment and ensuring Gaumata is secure

Lucknow: The preparations have already started for the Diwali festival to bask in the gaiety and blessings of Lakshmi. Preparations have started for Diwali to be held on November 4. While potter’s wheel or earthen lamps are being made, women are busy in making cow dung lamps and idols of Shri Ganesh-Lakshmi. By buying products made by women on Diwali, you can also bring prosperity in their lives.

You can help bring prosperity to the lives of thousands of women by lighting lamps made from cow dung. Construction of such unique artifacts is going on at a war footing at Kanha Upvan and Gopeshwar Gaushala in Lucknow. Preparations for making lamps in the Mankameshwar temple complex are underway.

In the presence of Mahant Devya Giri of Mankameshwar temple, lamps will be lit as a symbol on Sharad Purnima at Mankameshwar Upvan Ghat. Using cow dung lamps, the Mahant has taken the initiative to connect women with employment along with cow protection.

Women will make dung lamps in the temple. In Kanha Upvan, Shalini Singh of Citizen Foundation is providing employment along with training at Bhagwati Vihar, Krishnanagar. Not only the dung lamp, but the idol of Shri Ganesh Lakshmi, the bandanawar, and Swastika is also being specially made for Diwali.

The first stall for the sale of cow dung products has been set up near Shriram Janaki Thakurdwara in Banglabazar. Prasoon Gupta said you can do cow service in any form. I thought I could try this by selling lamps made out of cow dung product. Gopeshwar Gaushala Manager of Malihabad Umakant said that in the Gaushala, about 150 women are making products like lamps, wood for Havan and other products from cow dung.

Two thousand women in 200 groups are doing this work in eight districts of Awadh province.
