Lucknow: It has been an eventful year for the city of Nawabs. As the year ends, ushering in a hope of new more exciting times, the markets in the city are all decked up to bask in festive fervour. Many decorative items have come for sale at the shops which includes various unique items. Apart from greeting cards, cakes, calendars and unique Laughing Buddha idols and other gift items have been putup in shops for display. To sweeten the mouth of the people, compact packets are also available in the market.
A shopkeeper in Gomti Nagar said that now the sale of cards is high. The demand for cakes is high as people are happy to sweeten each other’s mouth. Big cakes are in demand. Happy New Year 2023 written cakes are the flavour of the day. There are also custom made cakes which are high in demand.
Some who believe in good luck are also buying a Laughing Buddha for Shagun. Similarly crystal balls are also in great demand.
Apart from dry fruits and chocolates, sweets are also the choice of people. People are also buying new dresses. Diaries and calendars are also being sold for gifting.
Special offers are being given for SIM cards, electronics and retail outlets. New year celebrations are happening at many places. In view of this, the DM of capital Lucknow, Surya Pal Gangwar has issued an order. In which it has been said that no program will be organized without permission. If found holding events without permission, punitive action will be taken against the person.
According to the instructions issued by the DM, prior permission will have to be obtained for organizing entertainment programs on New Year’s Eve. Only after permission, entertainment programs will be organized in various clubs, resorts, pubs, restaurants, parks, hotels in the district on New Year’s Eve. At the same time, for violating the instructions, imprisonment of 6 months or a maximum fine of Rs 20,000 will have to be paid. Organizers can apply through the Niveshmitra portal. In case of any problem in the online application process, the organizers can contact the District Magistrate’s office on the number 40.
On the shopping front, Lucknow can be cherished in its sprawling markets. These markets are centuries-old and have such variety of items to buy, that you wouldn’t have guessed. They are the best bazaars where you can bargain and go on a shopping spree.
