Lucknow/ Chandigarh: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) chief Mayawati will begin her campaign on February 8 for next month’s Punjab Assembly elections. BSP party’s Punjab President Jasvir Singh Garhi said that BSP chief Mayawati will address a rally in Nawanshahr. Garhi said the Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD)-BSP alliance will form the next government in Punjab with a clear majority.
Jasveer Singh Garhi said, “The BSP-SAD alliance will free Punjab from the misrule of the Congress party with a victory in the 2022 assembly elections.” Earlier this month, BSP general secretary SC Mishra had said that Mayawati would not contest next month’s Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, and would help candidates win elections in the states. Assembly elections are due in five states including Punjab next month. Elections in Punjab will be held on February 20 and counting of votes will take place on March 10.
